This Kenya safari tour immerses you in Kenya’s jaw-dropping landscapes and spectacular fauna on an exploration of 3 of the country’s protected natural areas. Set out on an African safari in Masai Mara National Reserve, driving through African acacia-dotted plains teeming with wildlife; learn about rhino conservation from a representative of the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS); and spot wading hippos and hundreds of bird species on the shores of Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha.

Destination: Nairobi, Lake Nakuru National Park, Lake Naivasha National Park, Masai Mara National Reserve.

Nairobi – Day 1

Our African safari tours throughout Kenya and Tanzania have a maximum group size of six travelers in addition to a CEO and a driver who are both trained African safari guides. That means everyone gets a window seat and twice the insight about the astounding wildlife all around you. Arrival Day and welcome Meeting at Jacaranda Hotel (or similar).

Nairobi – Lake Nakuru National Park – Day 2 (1B, 1L, 1D)

Depart early for Lake Nakuru National Park, known for harboring flocks of pink flamingos (greater and lesser) and a rich variety of bird species. Arrive at our safari lodge inside Lake Nakuru National Park in time for lunch, and seek out the resident white rhinos on a late afternoon Kenya safari. Accommodation at the Lake Nakuru Lodge (or similar).

Lake Nakuru National Park – Day 3 (1B, 1L, 1D)

Set out on morning and afternoon Kenya safaris through the beautiful park, searching for buffalo, Rothchild’s giraffe, reedbucks, impalas, lion, leopard and more; and drive along the salty shores of Lake Nakuru to discover a mind-boggling variety of birds – more than 450 species have been recorded. Later, hear from a representative of the Kenya Wildlife Service – a government organization dedicated to managing the country’s wildlife – about the issues surrounding poaching and rhino conservation.

Lake Nakuru National Park – Lake Naivasha National Park – Day 4 (1B, 1L, 1D)

The name Naivasha comes from the Maasai “Nai’posha”, which means “rough water”, though Lake Naivasha is generally calm as we watch for hippos, crocodiles, and birdlife. Bring your binoculars and scan for ibis, cormorants, lovebirds and African fish eagles. Watch African buffaloes wallow in the swamps and listen to colobus monkeys call from the canopies. Accommodation at the Lake Naivasha Crescent Camp (or similar).

Lake Naivasha National Park – Masai Mara National Reserve – Day 5 (1B, 1L, 1D)

After breakfast, we depart for the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. No trip to Kenya would be complete without a visit here. In the afternoon, we arrive in the area, and get settled at our safari camp, our base for our time here. Then we’ll make our way into the reserve for an afternoon Kenya safari, with excellent chances of seeing the Big Five animals of Africa – buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard and rhino. Accommodation at the Fig Tree Camp (or similar).

The Masai Mara is also the setting for the annual great wildebeest migration between July and October when over 1.5 million wildebeest, zebras and gazelles migrate from Tanzania’s Serengeti following the rains with predators in hot pursuit.

Masai Mara National Reserve – Day 6 (1B, 1L, 1D)

Venture out on an early morning Kenya safari to track the animals that traversed the savanna during the night. View ungulates like Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, topi and eland antelopes – as well as their stealthy predators such as lions, leopard, cheetah, serval cat, wild-dogs and hyena – at their most active times of the day. Continue your exploration on a late afternoon Kenya safari, discovering the timeless landscapes of the Masai Mara.

Masai Mara National Reserve – Nairobi – Day 7 (1B, 1L)

Rise early for a final morning Kenya safari, enjoying the African sun as it rises over the picturesque savanna of the Mara plains. Return to Nairobi in the late afternoon and opt to join the CEO in a farewell dinner. Accommodation at the Jacaranda Hotel (or similar).

Nairobi – Day 8 (1B)

Depart at any time.
